After waiting endlessly for WhatsApp to send the messages I wanted to drop on my group chat, it came to my mind that WhatsApp may have finally stopped supporting BlackBerry. I promptly rebuked the thought, and decided to find out immediately, my worst fears were confirmed when I saw people tweeting the same problem of WhatsApp displaying error messages on blackberry.

Anyway, I discovered my WhatsApp app was outdated and an upgrade was enough to solve the problem. WhatsApp extended support for BB10 smartphones running on android. These phones will be supported by WhatsApp till the end of this year. Oh! So you want WhatsApp to continue supporting the BB10 you’ll pass on to your descendants in 3017? Mtcheww. Please o, the deadline according to an update to the original post on whatsapp official blog, is December 31st 2017.

If you are facing the same problems I faced getting to send messages on your BB10, simply follow these steps:

  • Delete your old BlackBerry WhatsApp
  • Visit BlackBerry appworld and downloaded the updated version
  • Before the step above you might need to refresh blackberry world through ‘general settings’.
  • If problem persist, check your data connection.

Please tell us if this works for you.
