Search in engine company, Google has launched a search feature that will enable people in Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya, find job opportunities specially suited for them right from mobile phones.
The concept is a simple one, ensuring that their is a streamlined experience for the user. Users can at a glance find out the details of a job, find out if its full time or part time, and if the user is signed into Google location services, the user might eve get details about transportation to the work place and back.
With the new feature, users can find out local job opportunities within their area. For a test I simply did a little search for ‘hotel jobs’ and it gave me a list of hotel jobs available right within my immediate locality. Users can also set email alerts for further notifications, save job listings etc.
Google isn’t planning to complete with job/career websites in Nigeria. No! They are partnering with these jobsites to organize their content and deliver it to users in a great way. The feature was commended by representatives of jobberman, NgCareers, and other job sites that attending the launch.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation Youth Employment, Afolabi Imoukhuede was also present at the launch. According to him, it is in line with the president’s efforts on job creation in Nigeria.
