Nigeria’s domestic airlines are about the best in Africa and the best in West Africa. These airlines handle flight schedules within Nigeria. They operate to and from states like Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Jos, Owerri, Kano, Calabar, FCT etc.

7. Overland Airways

Overland Airways was incorporated on September 17, 1998. It is an airline registered to operate charter and scheduled flights. The airline commenced operations in 2002 with the aim of increasing the prosperity of the Nigerian hinterland by facilitating the transportation of business men, investors, government officials and indigenes from one point to another and till date, is the pride of Nigeria in the airline industry.

Overland Airways operates scheduled domestic flight services within Nigeria called ‘Business Flyer” and has succeeded in bringing air transportation to the hinterland of Nigeria. Its routes include: Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Ilorin, Akure, Dutse, Minna, Bauchi, Asaba and Jalingo.

This contributed to the economic growth of host states by connecting them essentially to Abuja and Lagos, the main economic hubs of the country.

The airline operates a fleet of modern equipment and facilities to provide high standard of service. Overland Airways has a fleet of 9 modern aircraft composed of ATR-42s, ATR-72s and Beechcraft 1900Ds to various destinations in Nigeria, West and Central Africa.

6.  Dana Air

Dana Airlines Limited operating as Dana Air is a fully private sector-owned carrier. The airline commenced flight operations on 10 November 2008 and has since its inauguration progressively developed a route network bringing convenience and choice to the flying public.

5. Air Nigeria

Air Nigeria was established to replace the defunct Nigerian Airways. Its head office is located at Ikeja, Lagos. Air Nigeria operates both regional and domestic flights around the country. It is Nigeria’s aviation flag carrier.

4. Air Peace

Air Peace is a private establishment. It is one airline with the cheapest fares and and one of the high ranking airlines in terms  of patronage. They are based in Lagos with a fleet of seven aircraft including three Donier jets.

Including Enugu, Jos, Calabar, Akwa Ibom, Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Maiduguri and others.

2. Aero Contractors

Aero is one of the biggest airline,second only to Airik in prominence. Aero operates on a very wide range of destinations. It also handles regional and international flights. Its main hub is at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos. Aero has two maim service operations units- the fixed wing which handles passenger flights on airliners, and the rotary wing comprising of a fleet of helicopters, for private operations and oil and gas surveys.

1. Arik Air

Arik is the most prominent airline in Nigeria and has the highest patronage. Its two hubs are located in Lagos and Abuja. Arik was established in 2002 and has continued to expand its  operations as an aviation giant in Nigeria and Africa. Arik handles domestic, regional and international flight routes.
